Volleyball is not just a sport, its a way of life. It conditions the body and mind both. The body must be conditioned enough to adjust and react to different environments, and ball movements. The mind must analyze and anticipate where the ball is going to go. Volleyball has many twists and turns. The conditioned mind is able to push through frustration, fatigue, and any other apparent obstacles that may arise. The hardest part is making sure the whole team can push through together. A team is not just one or two people. No one can carry a team. Its a group of people who, together, conquer all adversity that is present. In order to do this, the right mindset is essential. The mindset that you cannot win a game on your own. You rely on other people, your teammates, to lift your spirits and keep you focused no matter what happens. They are the ones who tell you to "step it up", or "its ok, next time". These little reminders may not always mean as much if your coach or parents tell you, but coming from your teammates always means a lot. Not that your coach or parents don't have any effect, its actually quite the contrary. Your coaches and parents set a high standard for your play, and sometimes just that thought of disappointing them is enough to whip you back into shape. Remember if one or all the above is true, you are a volleyball player.
